Catching Books

I grew up in the days of the Carneige libraries.  If you don’t know who or what those were:

A Carnegie library is a library built with money donated by Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. A total of 2,509 Carnegie libraries were built between 1883 and 1929, including some belonging to public and university library systems.

The original Carneige library in downtown San Diego was a place to go after school, getting info for research papers and going through periodical indexes. (That was a long time ago). Having grown up with that old building, I really fell in love with the newer library designs. For example, San Diego’s new downtown library sits close to the bay and from the upper floors you have an  unequaled view of the city.

However, the library that caught my artist’s eye was the one in Mission Valley – a section of the city. When I drove ’round to the back I was floored at how much like a docked spaceship it appeared – and hopefully from my photo (and editing) you’ll see what I mean.
