My Writing Life
I’ll be updating this page every month or so, just to let you know what I’m working on and the status of my project.
Book Proposal
I just submitted a book proposal to Red Wheel/Weiser Publishing. Waiting for an answer.
UPDATE: They accepted it, I wrote it, and it’s now available for pre-order, to be officially birthed on March 1, 2021. Yes, I jumped ship and wrote something totally unexpected. I hope you like it. I loved writing it.
Novel #1 (and damn, it’s the hardest!)
This photo above may clue you in on the setting for my work-in-progress: A novel set in the American Southwest. It’s the tale of a female archaeologist who is gifted with a certain talent – one you’ll have to read about once the book is completed. Working title: The Columbian Artifact
Prep Work for my Novel
UPDATE 4 (Oct 15, 2020): I’m now about 16K words into the first draft
UPDATE 3: I finished outlining Acts 2 and 3
UPDATE 2: Using the Cat book, I’ve completed plotting Act 1 and will spend the rest of this month plotting Acts 2 and 3.
UPDATE 1: What helped me: Save the Cat Writes a Novel. This is HANDS DOWN the best book I’ve ever read on structuring a novel. It lead me step-by-step through each step of writing my novel, including basic lengths of Acts 1, 2, and 3, and what absolutely needed to be included throughout.
