A year ago I wrote about Typealyzer, a service that would analyze the personality of your blog based on your posts.

At that time, my blog had only been running a couple of months, and its personality was assessed as ISTJ (introverted-sensing-thinking-judging) called The Duty Fulfiller. Sure, I like doing a good job, but I thought Typealyzer didn’t have enough data to be as accurate as possible.

*Link to the analyzer (along with a request from me) is at the bottom of the post.

So, last night, I ran my blog through the system again. This time the analysis was more like it! My blog is an ESTP (extroverted, sensing, thinking, perceiving), called The Doer. (These personality types are based on Myers-Briggs personality types) According to Typealyzer:

The active and playful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.

The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.

Amen, brother.

I tracked down another page on the Internet that showed the careers suitable for ESTP and wouldn’t you know it – the careers are things I already do (except the scientist – although two of my books were on astronomy). Pretty dang amazing.

Marketing specialist

Scientist/biologist/physicist/chemist

Project manager

Consultant

Business Analyst

Want to assess the personality of your blog? Typealyzer will be happy to analyze you! All you have to do is enter the URL of your blog. Once you ‘ve completed the assessment, leave a comment with your blog’s type and a link to your blog – and let me know if you think it’s accurate.

Saw a great post by Tom Chandler about Typealyzer, a site that instantaneously analyzes your blog and pops out a personality type along with a diagram of the parts of your brain used to write your posts. The personality types are based (loosely, I believe) on the Myers-Briggs personality types. For example, if you are an ESFP (extraverted-sensing-feeling-perceiving) you’re called The Performer – - basically you’re a "where’s the party?" kinda person.

Based on my blog, I’m a ISTJ (introverted-sensing-thinking-judging) called The Duty Fulfiller. Well, SOMEONE has to do it! ISTJs are often called inspectors. We have a keen sense of right and wrong, especially in our area of interest and/or responsibility. (What that really means is, we want our work to be perfect!). If you’re really interested in learning more about me, there’s a detailed ISTJ profile here.

The second part of the analysis was the parts of the brain used when writing posts. Clearly, I’m a practical thinker with a little intuition thrown. I’m pretty certain this is the ideal brain activity for a website copywriter! (see brain diagram below) Just for kicks, I ran a couple of other blogs through the Typealzer–both blogs written by Tarot readers. I figured these would be pretty far afield from my own Dutiful person.

Interestingly, both Tarot blog writers had the same personality type (The Thinker) but the parts of the brain used to write their posts was quite different – one was very thinking, the other very intuitive. So what do you think kids? Hocus-pocus, or a fantastic new tool to get the inside scoop on the competition?
