Exploring Goodreads.

Sometimes, when  exploring new opportunities for marketing my books, I feel a little like the tiny guys at the bottom of this slot canyon: Experiencing an awesome opportunity but overwhelmed by the learning curve.  Fortunately, I’ve recently found two excellent resources for exploring a canyon-sized opportunity: Goodreads.

My Facebook friend Michelle Campbell-Scott sent me an advance review copy of Goodreads for Authors - a Kindle book that’s chock-full of tips that I can’t wait to try out.  Next, Michelle teamed up with another of my friends, Cathy Presland to create a Udemy course that covers the ins and outs of Goodreads for authors.  Although I have Michelle’s book I signed up for the Udemy course as well because sometimes I do far better watching a video, and other times I want to read.

I agree with Michelle and Cathy – I think Goodreads is an under-utilized marketing tool for savvy writers – and I can’t wait to dig deep into what I can do there.

I had planned on working on my new #Kindle book this week but I’ve back-burnered it in favor or immersing myself in Goodreads. Will report in when I know more.

Thanks for the mention Nancy. I believe that Goodreads is a really powerful tool for authors that, managed well, can help us engage with our existing readers and find tons of new ones!

Don’t take too long to finish your next book though, I love your books!

I agree with your comments and have enrolled on Goodreads for Authors – what a great course it is!

Given Amazon’s recent purchase of Goodreads, it makes more sense than ever for authors to have a presence on the platform – so get to it!

Thanks Michelle – glad you like my books. We can all form mutual admiration societies :)

Keith – how true. I’m with you and am getting to it!

Nancy, thanks so much for sharing the goodness about goodreads (and our course) and Keith I see you inside so thank you also!

I totally agree on the multi-media learning – it is easier learning sometimes when we can see it step-by-step and it was a lot of fun to work with Michelle on this project.
