Library of Virginia Joins Flickr’s Commons

Great news for all of us who love historic photos.

The Library of Virginia, joined The Commons on Flickr yesterday, October 6, 2008. The Library of Virginia is the 11th institution to join The Commons, with many more on the way!  (The first to join was the Library of  Congress).

The Library’s first photo set contains 200 photos from the Adolph B. Rice Studio Collection–a unique photographic record of life in Richmond, Virginia from 1949 to 1961.

The collection consists of more than 16,000 4 x 5 inch film negatives from the commercial studio of Adolph B. Rice.
