[Challenge] Finish Emily’s Poem

I stole this idea from American Scholar. Using the first two lines of an Emily Dickinson (unfinished?)emily dickinson poem, readers were challenged to write the last two lines – being sure to use at least one  of Emily’s own writing conventions (dashes and capital letters).  Only two brave souls joined me.  Hoping for more next time.

Alison Cross
Soft as the massacre of Suns
By Evening’s Sabres slain
Relinquish your daily battle toils
Surrender into Night’s arms

Gail Brooks
Soft as the massacre of Suns
By Evening’s Sabres slain
The morning mist assumes a Tone
Of calm–of clear–of rest.

Nancy
Soft as the massacre of Suns
By Evening’s Sabres slain
Black birds descend to Roost
On Heaven’s craggy Shores
