Relationship Marketing in Action: KeywordLuv

Be Sociable, Share!

I stumbled across a WordPress Plugin that rewards people who comment on your blog: When a comment is left, the commenter will receive a link back to their site, embedded in the SEO keywords of their choosing.

How cool is that!

In brief, when you leave a comment (like I hope you do below), instead of just putting your name in the NAME box, put your name@ your SEO-rich keywords, i.e. Nancy@web 2.0 writing strategies   Then, add your URL as you normally would. When you submit your comment, your keywords are displayed, hyperlinked to your site.

You can download the KeywordLuv plugin here.  After download and unzipping, follow the easy installation instructions. I was fortunate in that the plugin worked seamlessly with my Thesis theme.

Here’s the deal, though.  You also have to install a DoFollow plugin – otherwise the comment will default to a NoFollow. Where’s the love in that!  I went hunting around, and found SEM-DoFollow.  I installed it without a hitch, and was off to the races.

A major  2009 goal is relationship marketing – building win-win partnerships with my clients, and any time I can find a tool, plugin, or new approach that fits my goal is going to get some luv from me.

I definitely like to see sites that use the KeywordLuv plugin – not only does it encourage discussion, but does let you have the opportunity to reward your readers for their participation.

Definitely a nice addition to any site.

I found your blog because you used KeywordLuv, so it really does work! :)

Best Man@Best Man Speech January 29, 2009 at 4:55 am

KeywordLuv (and along with it CommentLuv) is a great Wordpress plugin that will put blog commenting on steroids. Hopefully more and more will adapt it.

James@Eee PC 901 January 29, 2009 at 11:34 am

Another alternative to SEM-DoFollow is Lucia Linky Love – it’s allows you make the links dofollow after x number of comments which is a pretty good way to deter spammers.

Ryan Martin@Bellingham SEO January 31, 2009 at 12:22 am

The keyword luv plug-in is a great way to get people to comment on your blog. It is also a great way to increase your traffic and return visitors. I also like the comment luv plug-in, which is what I use on my blog. I also turned the nofollows off, which is something that a lot of bloggers don’t do. I’m not sure if it is intentional or not?

James @ reverse phone number search February 3, 2009 at 1:17 pm

I wish more bloggers would use keyword luv! It allows those who leave relevant comments to get a little link luv and gives the blog owners a more active blog. It’s win win for both sides. I to found your blog because you use keyword love.

Indeed, having KeywordLuv on a blog’s comment section provides a win-win situation for the guest and the blog owner. This is one of the great breakthroughs in the blog world!

Thanks for the post!

Barack@Obama Lies February 25, 2009 at 4:12 pm

It’s interesting how KeywordLuv works. How has having such a wide variety of keywords on your pages helped your rankings?

steve@Debt Settlement Program March 3, 2009 at 4:23 pm

I agree its quite a shame that not more bloggers are taking advantage of keyword luv, great way to get comments and comments are helping blogs to rank better nowadays.

eric@freemoney March 3, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Keyword luv makes it easy to finaly get link with the term you wnat site listed for. Since people make comments on blog might as well let them use terms they want for link.

Matt @ Selling Gold Scrap March 10, 2009 at 12:26 am

Keywordluv is a great plugin, and should become law for blogging, bloggers, and blogs.

Hanna @ affiliate funnel systems March 22, 2009 at 3:58 am

I love keyword “luv” I can’t imagine why every one does not use it.
It’s the perfect way to acquire good comments which help with ratings.

Stan@Terry Adams March 22, 2009 at 10:27 pm

Hey so I just found your blog on accident and I must admit that Ive been reading for the last half hour. Great site.

Brendan@Real Estate March 24, 2009 at 10:35 pm

Nancy,
Thank you for bringing the Do-Follow Plugin to my attention. I am using KeywordLuv and it’s not giving my commenters love.

Time to get to work fixing this problem.

Hanna @ Afiliate Funnel Systems March 26, 2009 at 4:47 am

KeywordLuv plugin is the best yet. I can’t imagine blogging without it!

Chuck@business web design March 31, 2009 at 1:26 am

I’ve been using this plugin for months on my personal web site and love it. I still delete half the comments that are made on my site, because the commenter didn’t even TRY to add value thru their comments (an absolute MUST, in my view), but I feel like KeywordLuv restores what Wordpress should have built in in terms of comment functionality.

Pep@Scarpe Da Ginnastica April 1, 2009 at 8:43 pm

I think keywordLuv is a great idea. It is a fact that blogs that have this plug-in have plenty of relevant comments. Comments are useful for owners and linkLuv is useful for commenters. The one who invented this plug-in is a real genius!

Paul@Meeting rooms April 7, 2009 at 4:22 pm

Great tool!! It allows those who leave relevant comments to get a little link love and gives the blog owners a more active blog. It’s win win for both sides. I found your blog because you use keyword luv and glad cos you do have interesting posts I wouldn’t have found normally.

Rick @ Small Business Phone Systems April 9, 2009 at 6:21 am

While Keywordluv may contribute to relationship marketing, as you indicated “building win-win partnerships with my clients,” I hope it’s also about furthering meaningful discourse in the blogsphere than only about improving your rankings. As Thomas Paine once wrote, “What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly.” Nancy, I do appreciate the article because I was actually looking to find out how others think about the plugin.

Hanna @ slumdog April 13, 2009 at 11:00 pm

Keyword Luv is the absolute best WordPress plugin. I love it and I’m amazed that all bloggers haven’t caught on yet.

David White@Golf Clubs April 14, 2009 at 10:20 am

Everyone know that keyword is king with this post I can increase my keyword luv.

Chris @ Free Wii April 14, 2009 at 3:26 pm

My websites just got increased to PR 3 so it might be interesting if I implement this to see how many come for the PR juice!

Kevin@ppcninjabonus.com April 14, 2009 at 4:48 pm

Thank you Nancy,
I do really like this plugin. I wish more would use it, and I hope people don’t abuse their privileges. I do like the idea of rewarding people for making a comment. It is often easier to keep yourself in read only mode, without truly expressing yourself. Thanks again!

Increase Traffic April 17, 2009 at 11:20 am

I’m thinking about adding KeywordLuv to my site but have heard it can be a strain on your database. KeywordLuv seems to be a “lighter” application so I may try that one first.

Tim@mortgage calculator May 13, 2009 at 5:48 am

This a good first step but if you really want to kick up your relationship building you should add Topcommenter to the mix. It will get readers to return over and over each month.

This is a great tool for bloggers…all thou it gets difficult to find such blogs that have keywordluv or commentluv enabled. I installed this on my blog and I ended up getting a lot more spam then I wanted. But it is a great way to generate backlinks!
